A planned data center in West Columbia, Mason County, about 20 miles north of the Monarch Compute Campus. The developer is Starwood Digital Ventures, the data center investment platform of Starwood Capital Group, based in Miami Beach, Florida. The state certified it as a high impact data center in September 2026.
The governor’s office puts the investment at $12 billion. According to West Virginia Watch, the governor said the project will need 2.16 gigawatts of power, which it will get from the existing grid. The developer says the site uses existing Appalachian Power infrastructure.
This project falls under HB 2014, the Power Generation and Consumption Act.
