Google Buffalo data center campus

Google has bought land in Putnam County for a data center campus at Buffalo, along Charleston Road. MetroNews reports the site is about 1,700 acres on both sides of Route 62. The state approved it as a high impact data center under HB 2014.

Google’s project website describes up to eight data center buildings, and says the site is expected to be fully served by the grid through Appalachian Power. The governor’s office says Google will cover 100% of the electricity used to power the facility, and Google says it will pay for the needed electrical, water and sewer upgrades. The project is at an early stage; the site plan is marked preliminary.
